In LA, where child-bearing is often postponed in favor of career-building, one need only stroll briefly down Rodeo to discern the baby replacement of choice for most LA women: dogs. Any one of these
doting ‘mothers’ has at one point or another fretted over having to leave her trusting dependent(s) in cage-filled kennels while at work or on vacation.

Enter D Pet Hotels Hollywood, a luxury pet ‘hotel’ designed to put worried doggie parents at ease, be it for a few hours or a few weeks. The hotel, modeled after a Standard, W, or the like, accomplishes what every luxury hotel aspires to accomplish Minus mommy, it’s actually better than home. To begin with, the property boasts 6,000 square feet of dog park, or ‘Recess’ space, that has been divided into three separate areas based on doggie weight class. These play areas include sanitary rubberized epoxy floors, competition agility equipment, and constant human ‘mops’/playmates. If this isn’t enough to get overindulged doggies in shape, the hotel also offers workout services at ‘Pant,’ a miniature gym complete with miniature treadmills just the right size for Buddy, Fido, or Princess.

After a day spent releasing more energy than most urban pets get to expend in a lifetime, boarders are taken upstairs to poop out in style. The hotel offers three types of suites: the BowWOW Suite, a cage-free space complete with luxury dog bed and flat screen tv the Sensational Suite, an actual bedroom boasting a twin-sized ‘human’ bed, a flatscreen tv, and stylish bedroom décor and, the Uber and Double-Uber Suites, which contain queen-sized ‘human’ beds, flatscreen tvs, sylish décor and, in the case of the Double-Uber, two adjoining rooms to give added space to puppies with siblings.

In sharp contrast to most kennels, staff members at D Pet Hotels stay on the clock 24/7. Concierge-like services are offered, meaning that anything can be fetched for favored pets upon (owner) request, including filet mignon. At the hotel’s spa, pampered paws can be bathed and/or massaged. Haircuts are also available, and may be necessary in case proud parents want a professional portrait done on-site by Furtographs photographer Andy Stolarek. After a hard day or week’s worth of play for posh pups, reminders of the good times had can be purchased in the form of accessories from the hotel’s Chrome Bones boutique.

An open door policy exists at D Pet Hotels Hollywood, which means that anyone can check out any part of the hotel at any time. This policy exists to prove that guest pups are treated like stars even when mommy and daddy aren’t around to see it. One look at the hotel and overprotective parents will be loathe to consider having their precious pets boarded anywhere else.
